K30 problem, or I'm missing something?

I already returned one K30 after it froze up on the second day of use, and have had the replacement about a week now, shooting mostly family photos.
i've started noticing a certain issue today, and wondering whether it's an actual issue, or if I'm doing something wrong.

After changing modes, I am sometimes only able to change exposure settings once, after I take a photo, the aperture and shutter and +/- settings are all locked in place. If I change the ISO or open and close the menu, etc, I am once again able to change, but I can't seem to do anything otherwise. This is happening in mostly AV and TAV modes, with 18-55 DAL or 40mm LTD. Before I call up Pentax, I'm hoping someone might now a certain feature that I may have accidentally enabled, etc. Thanks!

One thing to check, on my K5 you can't change settings using control dials with the instant review of the shot you have just taken active on the screen. Once the picture has gone, the controls return to normal - the rear dial is the zoom for the instant review by the way. I know it is obvious, but are you trying to change settings whilst the instant review picture is still live?

No, it's not that, because I'm looking at the LCD screen to see if anything's changing

Fair enough, thought it was worth asking just in case.

Is the metering circuit on? I suggest you increase the duration of the time it is on to the maximum allowed (assuming that there is a custom function to do this). It could be that certain settings can only be changed when the circuitry is on.

HDR is off, one-push bracketing is off. Anything else I can check?

That is still on the default setting-I believe five seconds. But I should be able to change the default settings whenever i want, no?

If the K-30 works like my K-5 then you can change aperture, shutter speed and ISO only as long as the camera is in picture taking mode. If it is in playback mode you can't. A half-press on the shutter button will bring the camera into picture taking mode.

Thanks for the help, but it's definitely in picture taking mode. I have just taken a photo, and if I push the shutter I can take another photo, just can't change anything

I know what you're talking about. There's lag regardless if image review is on or off. It's stopping me from picking focus points after each shot, and it annoys the heck out of me.

Thank you-this was the problem. The drive mode had been changed to exposure bracketing. A quick review of my photos would have solved that. Thanks again, everyone!

Haha I remeber when I thought my K20D was going crazy, and it had managed to get onto the 20FPS 640x480 burst mode.
