Retrieve and save RAW data from buffer memory for a just-recorded JPEG image

Hi,
I recently bought K30 camera. One of the advertised features was ability to Retrieve and save RAW data from buffer memory for a just-recorded JPEG image
I can not figure out how to do it. there is nothing in the manual
Does anybody know how to do it?

On the k-5, in picture review/gallery, there is a icon, only on the last picture, on top right that shows which button to press to save the raw.
AE-L, I just checked.

Page 212: in MENU mode:

Step 1 - Rec Mode 4 Select [Instant Review]

Step 3 - Save RAW data check to enable +/- button to save the last captured image as a RAW file.

This also works if you have set the RAW/fx button to digital preview (page 165)

This is a GREAT feature if you normally shoot JPEGs, because you can select RAW after the exposure, saving a ton of file space and time because you don't need to process every raw file, only those few that really need it.

Thank you very much. I am not sure how I missed it. This is indeed a great feature

It has some limitations - notably it doesn't work in continuous shooting mode (even if you just take one picture), guess because in this mode buffer gets emptied as fast as possible. I often leave my camera in burst mode even for single shots, so for a while I was wondering where it is, until it occurred to me to turn continuous shooting off .

But yes, it's a great feature.

I have the Instant Review turned Off - it's annoying. But I did as Prof Batty says, and ticked the Raw Data save.

Then Press the Blue ">" Button to play-back the shot. Press the +/- Button - and text is displayed telling how to save the shot. Then there's a brief black-screen with text saying Data being Saved - and back to the playback screen.

Quite a neat and useful function...

Regards, Dave.
