I'm picking you will get better results with the new set, there are counterfeit ones around too so make sure you don't end up with those!

Spelling mistakes

If you have even one dud cell out of the four and it starts to fall off during high current draw the camera will end up turning off much too early. The LSD's batteries are pretty good generally for our cameras as backups though, I've got a cheapo yet reliable 2100mah set from dealextreme and I like 'em just fine.

Not sure how many shots to a charge yet, haven't really bothered checking.

Here's an excerpt from a post I made in another thread a few weeks ago, but is very relevant to the current discussion:

I took 603 shots with my K-30 in RAW + JPEG the other day on a fully charged set of Rayovac Platinum NiMH batteries that charge up to a little over 2200 mAh. I also took several HDR shots (JPEG only, 3 shutter actuations each time), so we're talking about well over 1200 files being captured. I was using a huge and heavy screw-driven lens the whole time (Sigma 100-300mm f4), so I figured the batteries would be about spent, but when I put them in the charger, the charger pulled another 930 mAh out of the batteries before they were fully depleted. The batteries were about $10 from Wal-Mart, and can be ordered for about the same price from Amazon:

Amazon.com: Rayovac Platinum Pre-Charged NiMH AA Size Batteries, 4 Count: Health & Personal Care

I also have a couple sets of Eneloops, and they seem to perform about the same as the Rayovacs.

Thanks guys. I hope the new set is better. I got the Eneloop XX's. We'll see. Figured I'd try something different from what I have used before. I'm still using up a lithium ion battery so it will be a few days before I get to start on the new Eneloops. Will let you know how it goes.

Got these from Amazon using Prime, so I doubt they are counterfeit. Hope not anyway!

I recently got some Ansmann2700 mAh with an Ansmann charger for a great price at MPEX. Don't know how good they are. The first use did not last long at all. But I charged them up and then waited three weeks to use them until my adapter came in from Shenzhen, so they were probably quite a bit discharged. They should a be good backup. Both the original and the Pearstone (B&H) Li-Ions have done well, even on a night when I shot 300+ photos with a lot of flash, and quite a bit of video that was totally unplanned, and not on a freshly charged battery.

Anybody have any experience with Ansmann?

should get one from China, it would be much cheaper and most likely faster.

You should go ahead and order a second one. I'm going get another one myself, so that I can keep a spare loaded with fresh batteries, making it much easier to switch out during a shoot.

No experience myself, but Ansmaan batteries always do very well in comparison tests. The main issue with them is that they've typically been more expensive than others.

These were super cheap on clearance, they were bundled with a compact Ansmann charger and it looked as though you were getting 2 batteries, when I opened the package there were two more loaded in the back of the charger, probably why they did not sell. I bought two packs of these since I thought there were two batteries in each, I was happy when I got home and opened them up. I look forward to giving them a real try.

The cheapest one. Here's the one I ordered from China for $4.50 shipped:

D-BH109 AA Battery Holder Adapter Bracket For PENTAX K-R SLR DSLR CAMERA | eBay

It works fine. I don't have an OEM adapter to compare it to, but I don't see where there could be much difference.

I bought the 3rd party adapter from the same guy in the link you've given - the adapter arrived safely and I can confirm that it WORKs~!

I did see someone mention 700 shots with AA rechargeables but that may not have been with Eneloops.
I get some 700ish shots using Sanyo XX batteries. Shot 1700 pics today and that number still holds - except for brand new sets, even after being fully charged, in which case I get less than/about 250.

Another thing: With Li-Ion you get more frames per second. I guess around 4 fps with AA and 6 with Li-Ion.
That's not correct, I get 6fps with eneloops.

I bought from the same guy also, it took a long time to get here, but it works and cost only 4.50USD shipped, can't go wrong with that.
