K30 'Green Button'

I'm a bit puzzled - I bought the K30 to get pentaprism for manual lenses. I now have an M42 adapter, and was looking up the instructions on using it. Those on this Forum (and elsewhere) show how to use the Green button. Which is meant to be set from Record Menu #4. I saw on another site that the K-X has an actual "Green Button" listing in that location. The K30 seems not to - under Button Customization it has RAW/Fx and two for AF/AE-L - but that button is on the back of the camera.

There seems to be no listing in any of the camera Menus called Green Button, as in the K-X Menu. Is the K30 setting under the Record #4 Menu, and a subset called something, or elsewhere, called something else?

Under E-dial Programming there are green dots on the right side - are these referring to the Green Button? On Page 2 of that, the top line has "M" - if this is Manual Mode - is it correct for the manual lenses? The instructions for the K5 seem to indicate this.... If so - will the e-dials still work as usual in other modes, or does it have to be set for each manual lens use?

The Manual on Pages 162-164 doesn't mention Green Button.

I'm just hoping that this isn't another crippled function in the K30...

Regards, Dave.

Yeah, green dot = green button -- you set the way the dials & button work for each mode. So just set up M for manual lenses -- set green button to "Tv Shift". (That's what it says on K-5 anyway -- means green button sets shutter.)

VonBaloney - Ahhh, so that's how it's done! Thanks for that, much appreciated - now I can have a play with it.

yes K-30 menu is more like K-5 not as in K-x, there were here already a few discussions about it.
recent one:
I do not use green button with M42 lenses, use Av and M/A ( manual/auto) switch on the lens to fully open it for focussing if needed.
Green button I use with PK and M manual lenses in M for stop down metering.

Okay. So, how do I set the green button to Custom Image? I'm able to do that on my K-x and K-01, but not the K-30? I use Custom Image way, way more than manual lenses.
