off Auto ISO (auto ISO back to Manual) and nothing else, it is not advisable to work with auto ISO in M mode, it does serve TAV mode, simple - short and clear

The Pentax web site also discusses your problem under the customer support section. I had the same problem with a 200 f2.5 manual lens . You have to program the buttons for use and enable use of a lens with an apeture ring . Stop down metering worked fine after that . Hope this helps.

The mbukal is right. To access manual mode on M position of selection knob, all settings must be set to manual. Then is also on the status display displayed a 'M'.
