No lens exif data

Exif data showing everything except the type of lens used.
Kr always showed 18-135 information.
Suggestions?

Which program?

Try a free exif reader from the web, see what they find.

Are the lens contacts clean? Does it record other lenses?

Does not record either my 18-135 or 55-300.
All the other data is there, i.e. shutter speed, ISO, focal, length, etc. It just doesn't record
What lens I had on the camera at the time.
Maybe format the sd card?

Ah

Most likely your program doesnt know the lens ID.
The ID is a number so there is a library for the program that connect that number to a lens

Using iPhoto and it always recognized both lenses when used with the Kr. I dunno...technology is frustrating!

check if there is a lens ID in the exif data, that tells you enough where the problem is.

you have a great EXIF reader on the Mac it is called Preview

try it drag a jpeg or nef file on to Preview and then pull down from Tools in the menu

you will be amazed at all the info there

Maybe you can throw a file online so we can check it?

They image program on your computer needs to be updated. It does not know about the combination of K-30 and those two lenses.

New Englander - Could be something as basic as your Exif reading programs not recognising the JPEG version...

The K-R uses v. 2.2 - and the K30 v.2.3....

With Linux, I just found that updated Digikam reads the K30's exifs - updated RawTherapee doesn't.

CLI (command-line) "exif" does read the 2.3 exifs.

Regards, Dave.

Anvh - Quoting the Manuals:

From the K-R Manual, Page 331 - File Format > RAW (PEF/DNG), JPEG (Exif 2.21), DCF2.0 compliant.

From the K30 Manual, Page 272 - Recording Formats > RAW (DNG), JPEG (Exif 2.3), DCF2.0 compliant.

Version 2.3 was released 26th April 2010 - so software or firmware designed or released before that might not be fully compliant with it.

Regards, Dave.
