Water resistant my ass

Just got a K-30. slashed a cup of water (2oz) on the back to freak my old man out. This happens:

Boom, $800 mistake. These are about as water resistant as a piece of paper. Be warned.

We call this irony.

Alternatively - your copy may have a bad seal there. So do something about it.

I doubt they will RMA over water damage. I am going to see if it lessens overnight and then I will just baby it. A shame really. My first Pentax and this is my experience.

This should be covered by warranty worst-case.

So then I will get a camera back that is not new, of questionable origin, and with a limited warranty.

I am sorry, but I am just venting a bit. I was rather excited over this, and it takes a great picture. This just took all the wind out of my sails. I really, really wanted to give pentax a shot.

.
Perhaps they will just replace that part and all will be fine. Your remaining warranty time would still be in effect. The usual "90-day" warranty is typically for non-warranty repairs.

Do they come back with limited warranty? A bad seal is a bad seal - the camera is marketed as WR and therefore a bad seal will fail in rain (assuming you splashed it, and not like, hurled with much force). It should be repaired or replaced - but not with a lesser warranty.

They come back with EITHER the balance of the warranty OR 90 days, whichever is greater per my warranty repair last month by CRIS. Defects happen, sorry, get it repaired.

Which lens was attached? It's seems difficult that 1/4th cup of water could kill most any SLR. That's too bad.

Not a wr lens, but only the back bottom half the the camera got wet at all.

And for everyone screaming warranty. It still works, the is just water in the LCD. I really do not want to be without a camera for 2 months. It is bull it happened in the first place, and it looks like I am not the only person this is happening to if you google. It looks like the QA is dodgy.

Shouldn't happen.
Get your camera serviced.
You should be able to wash that camera under a tap without issue. (with a WR lense that is).

Ah, that makes a lot more sense.
