Given this is all new kit, the 35mm DA f2.4 would be ideal for you, I would think, and it is not so much of an investment that you have to worry about resale. ISO1600 is completely usable on the K30, 3200 is also fine, and 6400 at a stretch. Therefore you have a lot of sensitivity to play with, and therefore a faster lens is not so required (as they are expensive!)

If you did decide to use a manual lens, you could always use the catch-focus mode on the K30, whereby the camera monitors the focus, and releases the shutter when it detects the photo comes into focus. This way, you could pickup a 35mm autofocus, and a cheap 50mm f1.4/f1.7, and then spend on an AF 50mm if you think its worthwhile (the sigma f1.4 50mm is well regarded for portraits, and is the current subject of my LBA!)

Newborns have their eyes closed all the time anyway.

Bounce flash in a white-walled hospital room will work really well.

I really liked the DA 35/2.4 but wanted a little more background blur plus a bit more light gathering ability, so got an FA 35/2. These lenses have very similar optical designs, but the DA controls fringing a little better. The FA's not bad at all in this regard, just you have to keep an eye out in situations where you have a mostly-dark room with light source(s) in the frame.
