Great deal on the K-30

Got a sick price on the K-30 by phone from B&H today -- $668 for the body only, even lower than Amazon. Had a K-5ii on pre-order but decided to cancel and go with the K-30 ... just can't justify paying $500 more for a top LCD, gapless LCD on the back and the ability to take pictures in the dark. :-)

wow! so all you had to do was ask for it by phone to get this price?? Online price for black body only is $796.95 so you got $130 off! Nice score! How much, if any, did you have to haggle with them, or did they just casually offer you this deal?

Didn't haggle at all. Just told them i could get it for $675 on amazon (lowest price as of this morning), and they said their best price was $668. No brainer.

fwiw, I just rechecked Amazon a few minutes ago, and the seller there has since dropped its price to $660.

You'll be able to take those pictures in the dark just fine with the K-30

, and you won't miss that top LCD.

I followed your advise and managed to get a K-30 for $744.00 with kit lens from B&H. The customer service rep also mentioned there soon could be a permanent price drop to this new level soon!

Congrats! At this price, the K-30 is an absolute no brainer. Has there ever been a more capable camera in that price range?

Anybody know if B&H or Adorama is now charging tax for California purchases? Desperately broke Cali just instituted a new law requiring out-of-state sellers to charge sales tax. It seems some larger sellers are complying, some are not.

Speaking of prices, Berger Bros. in NY is advertising the K-30 w/the current Pentax $50 discount plus a $100 mail in rebate. Don't know if you can apply at purchase or what but that gives you $150 off the K-30 with various lens configurations putting the std kit w/18-55MM lens at around $749. Just an fyi fwiw.

I am willing to bet on upper-400's for the body only by Christmas.

I too am waiting to see what they do pricing wise for the holiday shopping period. I wish they would bring out the K-30 with the WR 18-55 lens. Just seems to make more sense w/it being advertised WR anyway. Why not make the whole package that way, eat the minimal price difference and really be able to promote the WR capabilities. Who knows, they may make it as a kit for the shopping season. Would be a big hit I would think. But then what do we know!!!!
