K-30 remote socket

Is the remote socket the same as K-7 and K20D. In other words if a wireless remote says it is compatible with these will it be compatible with the K-30?
Thanks.

All the modern dSLR K cameras use the same IR remote (even the Q does).

As I said - I am talking about the remote socket for wireless not the IR receiver. The K-x, K-r, Q etc don't have this hence my asking about the K-7, K20D which do.

They all use the same 2.5mm TRS (tip ring sleeve) connector for the wired remote.

Pentax Canada lists the Cable Switch CS-205 as an accessory to the K-30 (Pentax Canada | K-30). This switch seems to be the standard for all Pentax models with the cable remote function.

Regards

Yep. Just now checked my cannon wireless remote (that plugs into the socket with a receiver) that worked on my K20d. Works exactly the same on my k-30.

Very sorry, your wording in the original post was confused "In other words if a wireless remote says it is compatible with these will it be compatible with the K-30?" I answered the question asked. As for a wired remote, I'm sure others have already answered that question.

The K-30 wired remote is a very simple device and can be very easily home made. It is just a standard 2.5mm jack plug identical to the ones used for stereo headphones and two ordinary switches. No electronics of any sort involved. I think this system is also used in many other brands of dSLR, it certainly was common with film SLRs.

On half press contact is made between the sleeve and the ring, while on full press contact is also made between the sleeve and the tip.

Many non-Pentax shutter release accessories are bound to be compatible with it, such as intervalometers (not that you need one) motion detect triggers and so on.
