-10 Fine adjustment not enough.

Is there a way to adjust K30/lens beyond the -10/+10? (I need about -14 for a Tammy)

Are you positive that your testing technique is fine or that your lens is not broken?
That is a lot of adjustment.

Yes, believe testing is true. New lens - (Tamron 28-75). All other lenses needed small adjustment, this one lens was much sharper at -10 but still front focusing a bit. I may have to send it back for new one.

If it's a new lens, send it back. I've done that with the last three lenses I bought, and it's worked out well for me in each case. Two of these were within the camera's range to compensate, but why put up with a miscalibrated lens? Get it fixed under warranty, that's my strategy.

How can I tell it the lens is well calibrated or if it needs adjustmment??

I had a tamron 17-50mm F2.8 that needed way more than the K-30 could adjust, had to send it in for adjustment as it was secondhand. Still not right sadly, but much better.

Will do more testing tomorrow and get back to you. (Working til late.) Will check AF throughout apertures on both Tamron 28-75 and Pentax 55-300.

I've just done some experiments and maybe I figured out what could be going on.

To cut the story short I have a Tamron 10-24 which behaves similar to what is described but I have determined that it is actually working properly. In other words the apparent weird behaviour is actually correct and most importantly results in correctly focused images.

Of course I've no idea whether that is also the case for the 18-50 as I don;t have one of those.

All the posts about the 17-50 that you link to on DPR (and the rest of the links all over Google for Tamron AF issues for Canon, Nikon etc bodies) suggest that is indeed the lens, not the camera.
