Lowest price EVER on a K-30

I picked up a brand new Blue bodied K-30 with normal 18-55 lens today from Samy's Camera.
TOTAL OTD price was, are you ready???
$699.

The price is a lead up to Black Friday but they started today and will continue thru the 25th

Couldn't be more pleased with that price.
Now to get some use out of it......

Regards
Bernd

Yes, it is slipping down and down. Here in Vancouver, Canada, it is now $650 as a "cheapest price I've seen so far" but NOT a sale price—a regular price, at one of our most popular chain stores. Last month it cost more than that in the same store as a sale price.

The market is a strange and fluid place these days. In situations like this, we're happy. But I do wonder how small specialty stores survive, or IF they do.

I'm intending to buy the blue body too. There is a photo in these forums showing a Creamsicle-Orange K-30 body, which I think isn't available in North America.

Has been GBP319 for a while body-only after rebate. Crazy.

SPEND SOME MONEY ON MARKETING, PENTAX, AND SELL FOR WHAT YOU ARE WORTH.

Pentax K-30 Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm AL Lens DSLR $600 FS AR

From slickdeals - Samy's has the K-30 for $600

Pentax K-30 Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm AL Lens DSLR $600 FS AR Pentax K-30 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm AL Lens

Authorized Pentax dealer

This is an amazing "entry level" (really more mid-level) DSLR. Read the reviews and see for yourself. If you are not already heavily invested in Canon/Sony/Nikon glass, Pentax is well worth a look!

K-30 w/ kit lens: $600 after $200 in rebates ($100 instant, $100 MIR), Free shipping

P.S. don't forget your Pentax 2-year extended warranty (making the camera covered for 3 years, plus free cleaning/check up) for only $20 from B& H Photo

yep, been thinking about this. Anyone have any idea how cross-border warranty works? I live in Canada, would love to pick up this deal, but would hate to not have a warranty here....

not sure, you'd have to read the fine print but it would sure help if you had a friend or relative in the US

Pentax will issue a 1-year international warranty card if you apply, so that's no issue.

The bigger problem is Samys doesn't accept cards with Canadian billing addresses....

How about deals with the 18-135 lens & K-30 body? The price has been hovering a little above & a little below $1,000 on Amazon.

Oh wow? At such an asking price for the K-30 with the kit lens @ 599, i'd be damn for being caught with no funds now..

Well, i guess for those not in US, could it not be possible to have it ship by forwarding courier?

Samys won't accept non-US payment, so you would have to get someone to buy it for you. Also, couldn't find anyone who would pricematch the $100 off to get to $699, and the offered rebate is from Promaster, not Pentax. There aren't too many dealers who sell both Promaster items and Pentax cameras.

I ended up getting this deal instead: Amazon.com: Pentax K-30 Weather-Sealed 16 MP CMOS Digital SLR (black): PENTAX: Warehouse Deals

Funny how many had been saying that Pentax needed to develop a low-priced entry dSLR to be competitive when the K-30 was introduced. They had been saying that the K-30 was not Pentax' introductory level dSLR. I wonder how many people still think that is the case.

People can say whatever pops into their head. If there's something out there to be thought, someone somewhere usually thinks it. And if someone thinks it, these days there's a pretty good chance it will end up on an internet forum somewhere.
