Unreal!

I shot this with the kit 55-300mm with a $10 2x teleconverter in HEAVY overcast before the sun (behind the clouds) cleared the treeline. In other words -- really crappy light! The grabber here is not the $10 2X on a kit lens. The grabber is the ISO the camera chose and the results. Now, to be fair, I did give this a VERY quick run through Zoner Pro (an excellent Lightroom alternative) and a little Topaz. Mainly, to get the exposure right -- it was a little light -- and sharpen it up just a tad. This is uncropped. EXIF data provided.

Impressive detail, especially considering the 2X tele and 12800 ISO. Would love to find a $10 teleconvertor that seems to work that well!

It's not a true lens, it's the brand of a cheap teleconverter.

Focal was the store brand for K-mart back in the day, if I have my history right.

It matches my history, my first telephoto lens was a Focal 200mm f/4 bought at the local Kmart.
Also - beware of MC label on auction sites, as Minolta made MC (and MD) lenses before multi-coating came along and borrowed the acronym!

edit - oh yeah - Amazing image, what a nice surprise to get such a shot.

Getting an image like this from a new camera coming from a platform that is totally incapable of it, is quite an possibility-opener. Thanks very much.
