K30+Motocross+PS :)

I'm really surprised by the capabilities of the Pentax K-30, i was Nikon man before, but i'm glad now i've switched to Pentax.

This is just a start, i shoot mainly sport (motorcycle) photography, and i've done these with the kit 18-55 while i'm waiting for the 55-300 (thou i want to collect the funds for Sigma 120-300 f2.8). Shooted in raw, then "fixed" in photoshop

comments are welcomed as always

Well, my comment on these is that they're 7 crackers. You obviously know how to use a camera. Enjoy the K-30.

Nice MX shots!

I bought a black Pentax MX a few years ago solely to have a "Motocross" themed camara

SOT: Did anyone notice that retired baseball pitching great, Randy Johnson, is now a motorsports photographer? He had a media badge and was shooting at the Pheonix Supercross last weekend.

Some nice shots there, even more so considering they are with the kit lens!

Someone who went from Nikon to Pentax, and managed to get these kinds of shots out of a kit lens.

I am not worthy.

awesome shots...how did you get the background blured...were you driving next ti it

also don't want to burst your bubble but sigma doesn't make a pentax mount for the 120-300...i've wanted 1 for years

Awesome, some pretty impressive panning skills. Only thing would be to clean those sensor spots visible against the sky but pretty minor

That kit lens can produce decent results in the right circumstances huh

Thanks for the comments everyone, i'll be gushing you with lot's of motorcycle pictures, so let me know when it's enough

@pearsaab standing still but following the bike with the camera
first one is shot with: f/25, 1/100s, ISO 800

as for the sigma i have realized that.. i'm looking for something similar (f2.8) but at least 300mm, so let me know if you know something...

@FruitLooPs man i've noticed them now! can't beleive this, i bought the camera two weeks ago, and i took out and then back the lens only once :S

you shot the pictures with a shutter speed of 100...you must pan really fast...how fast were they going? that's mind boggling! also no zooms with that range at a 2.8...pentax has a 60-250 f4 but otherwise i think you're looking at a prime

The 55-300's autofocus is quite slow due to the long throw and sometimes can get lost. It's not that great for sports. I shot a soccer game with it, and lost quite some shots. Had to pre-focus most of the time. My Nikon friend with the 70-300 had a little better luck. (Nothing to do with skill, we're both amatures ) However, once it gets a clean shot, the image is really nice. SOOC rendition is nicer than the Nikon to me.

At F25 you'll be losing sharpness through diffraction I would imagine, and also it'll show up tiny tiny sensor dust that you wouldn't see even at ~F13 easily so its probably not surprising you saw some. Wouldn't lose sleep over it

1/100th of a sec is indeed impressive! The odd time I've shot motorbikes on circuit its via telephoto at much greater zooms so the panning speed relative to the subject is probably much higher ( 1/500th etc).
