User modes

A question to more experienced users - what settings do you use the user modes for?

I have one for BIF and another for ebay pictures. I set them up because they require multiple settings changes from what I normally use. The advantage to me is to quickly get back to my 'normal' setup after using them. If I had to do it manually I am sure I would forget something.

Because the K-5 lacks a bracketing button, I use mine for bracketing, otherwise with the same settings as P mode.

Have a "stupid" mode for when i give to camera to a friend or family member.
And a silent/concert mode with all the sounds turned off and the lights as well, also the LCD screen is tuned down to the lowest brightness.

That sounds like a useful setting! And it's several things at once, which I imagine the user mode is for, because each idividual setting is quite easily accessible.

Isn't the green auto mode for that?

Good suggestions.

I am still not 100% sold on the in camera HDR feature of the K-30 but use one of the User Modes to shoot HDR. This keeps from having to switch from JPEG to RAW in order to shot HDR.

I am using the user mode now for a special setting with an old external Nikon flash.
May be even more than only 2 user mode would be required after all for the K-30?

Regards, Peter

Could be but the green mode is a "really" stupid mode.
mine "stupid mode" is Av with auto ISO, AF on and MTF set to normal, my normal settings different from those.
My ISO is set ro manual, AF is away from the half press and MTF is set to depth of field.

I won't give the camera away for the whole day it's just so they can take a photo with me on it for example, so i set the F-number and i know the camera will de the rest correctly, mostly.
