k-30 $$$ question

would you have pulled the trigger on the k-30 with non-wr 18-55mm for $660 shipped and 18 months no interest?

the camera was $619 before tax

Yeah I'd say that's a pretty good deal. Then again, body-only it's currently $626 at B&H, which when combined with the 2% reward and free shipping means you'll be able to save even more if you don't plan on using the kit lens.

Thats exactly what I was wondering lol!

I am very new to photography...Through trial and error I have in the past couple months owned a Nikon J1, and a Sony NEX 5r

Something was missing and I really wanted to "learn" photography.

I just cannot find anything that comes close to the k-30 lol.

I should probably stick to the kit lens being so new to photography anyway but the WR lens is mighty tempting.

thanks!

Sorry for the total newbie question but if I go body only on the k-30 and pick up a k-01 with lens then swap the lens back and forth am i pretty much getting the k-01 free haha?

I would love to have a mirrorless backup for Disney lol

People seem to love their K-01 and it is a good deal for getting a prime too.

Too bad there isn't a really good deal on the K-30 with the 18-135 WR lens too. I don't have the K-30 but I have the 18-135 WR and I love that lens. It is such a wonderful walkabout lens!

The K-01 is a deal, but it still costs $369 with the 40mm prime. It's a great package but I wouldn't call it free. You will be substantially increasing your budget. Still, if you wanted the 40mm, then the k-01 is really only a $169 premium on top, and a smart way to go.

Any of the cameras you've had or the K-30/k-01 will let you learn photography. Why don't you simply get the K-01 and use that while you learn, there is no better deal on a camera at the moment. The K-30, or a newer camera, will be there when you've outgrown the K-01.

I want those dslr controls! lol

And from researching it would appear the k-01 is without the extra controls.

Its tempting though....very tempting!

A week after I received my kit, the price for the package went up $100. It's all in the timing.

It's missing the front dial. A front dial is nice, but you can live without one until you have a solid foundation(IMHO). The K-30 is only going to get cheaper down the line. I'd say there is no rush, as you can pick one up anytime in the next 6 months if you think you need the dial. The K-01 might be gone soon, these are liquidation prices. If you must have an OVF then the K-01 won't do however.
