Still have figured out 3 second delay w/remote

The manual says it works but I can't make it work for me.

I have it set to remote/3 sec delay

Fires when tripped......

Mine works definitely, both instant and 3sec delay, I've just tried it again in case recent firmware updates had messed it up. I know that scene modes can lock it out but you get an unavailable message.

Had never tried it before but due to this thread, I just tested and it worked fine. I was in TAV and just set the remote 3sec and tried it. No more effort than that and it worked.

Are you guys doing something different with your settings than I?

It is now working sporatically.........sometimes it will just focus and not shoot, fire when tripped or fires 3 sec delay as it should.

Does it matter which remote is used? I am using a JJC remote I bought for the Q.

I'll take one shot and it works as it should and the next shot(s) it fires at the push of the button.

Seems just setting it to 3 sec delay should do it but my camera isn't doing it.
Can't think of anything to try, it's so straightforward. I presume when you arrow over to the 3s icon it gets transferred up to the row of 5 icons and you press OK when over either of the 3s icons .

I don't think I'm doing anything odd. My "Auto Focus with Remote" setting in the menu is the default "1". I am using a JJC RM-E7 that I got for my K-r.

Correct......

I just did some more testing...........

It is consistently being inconsistent It does work not everytime.......I might have to take numerous photos before it decides to use the 3 sec delay......need to find the cause somehow.

I don't know how, but I suppose it could be the remote. If you want a cheap one to try, I'm using one that looks like this......

What I can think of is when the camera can not lock focus then it will not trip the shutter. You may try to have it points at something which has more contrast to see how it does. For example, when I tried to take picture of my back, the lens went all the way out then all the way back in and stopped, the camera did not take the picture. I had to use a piece of hard paper that had some pictures on it, to temporary put on my back then hit the remote, the lens focused, the camera locked it there and made the beeps for 3 seconds delay. By that time I removed that piece of paper and then the camera tripped the shutter.
