Hi, I've downloaded the latest version to my sd (formated), followed instructions from the web but I don't see the downloaded file. Is it that I have to download the first firmware and install it, then the other ones? I can see the file when i download it on the sd card on windows explorer but when i open it from the camera it just disappears... What am I doing wrong??

The file needs to be extracted (unzipped) and the file added to the root directory of the SD card. You won't see the file with the camera. Just go to the menu and firmware update and press OK . .

It should work fine if you download the file to your desktop, then extract the .bin file by clicking on the downloaded file. Drag and drop the .bin
file to your SD card. SD card should be out of the camera and in a card reader internal or external). Make sure to drop the .bin file in the root of the card, not in the DCIM folder. Let us know how you get along.

The file that you need in the root directory is fwdc215b.bin which you should have gotten by unzipping/extracting the file you downloaded from Pentax site. Copy this to the root directory of the SD card. When you look at the SD card w/Windows explorer you should see that file and a folder labeled DCIM if you formatted the SD card in your camera, or nothing else if it is a blank SD card.. Put the SD in your camera go to the menu and page four of tools and to firmware. Press OK on firmware select update and press OK again. The update will load and the camera shuts itself off when finished, Turn the camera on and go back to firmware in the camera menu and you should see version 1.04

If you haven't got a card reader to put the BIN file onto the card without involving the camera (my usual method), then you should be able to just plug the USB lead into the camera and use Windows Explorer to treat the card as a drive and copy the file over to it.
