Buttons and dials

Like a good boy I've been reading my K30 manual and have come to the part where I might like to apply functions to various dials and buttons.

One poster mentioned they set the front dial to exposure compensation, which sounds great. I'm just wondering if there are any other ideas out there before I totally confuse my self!

One idea I have is switching the histogram on and off quickly, i don't know if that is an option.

It's not, but you can use the disp button for that purpose

After due consideration I made only one button program change - the RAW/Fx button is set for optical DOF preview. Since I shoot RAW+ (and may soon go just RAW), I don't need that button to store RAW images. My old Super Program had a dedicated lens stop down lever and I used it a lot. Since DA series lenses no longer provide a DOF scale on the lens, stop down preview is even more important to me. I like consistent front shutter speed, rear aperture control when the camera is at my face. Ditto for green button action. For me, ISO is something I either pre-plan or I am willing to let the camera take care of.

Thanks Jim, that`s certainly one I`ll bear in mind.

Correct that is the worst change made by Pentax on years, it's bad enough they keep moving controls like the four way layout but the display button is a disaster
