It's midday on the 12th where I am. Hopefully the 13th release timetable is on Tokyo time, which is the time zone adjacent to mine. But if it's on UTC, I'll have to wait longer

Well, a while ago I think ogl mentioned June 13 as a significant date. That's only hours away.

I think I am the one who mentioned this date (on June 6th):

Pentax announcement on or around Thursday, June 13th.

I wasn't particularly rewarded for it though:

I haven't seen any nibbles on this particular claim. Have most people missed it, or is it being selectively ignored?

Curious as to whether it holds any water, or just another sh*t-stir!

We have seen so many predicted dates that they don't even register any more. I'll believe it when I see an official Pentax press release. That's the same day I'll believe there is something called a k-50 or maybe I'll wait a day or so after that... /shrug

The way I'm reading it, from basic to pro:

K-500
K-50
K-30 - weathersealed
K-5 - weathersealed

That sequence of 500, 50, 5 makes sense for a product range, but leaves the 30 as an oddball name. Unless a K-3 comes out, which would mean a 3-series and a 5-series.

It's actually a very Canon/Nikon style naming sequence so it sort of shows Ricoh is determined to challenge the big two with an equally full range of Pentax DSLRs.

And all that concern in the Hoya days of the demise of Pentax cameras. Soon it'll be a case of too many cameras to choose from.

Maybe there will be a K-0.5, pro of the pros.

I am hoping the same 16MP as in other models, in a simple(r) and small(er) body, a 100% viewfinder would be a bonus. I personally do not care much about the rest, even if they just put the current 16MP sensor in a K-r body I'd be fine.

Will drop something else pretty useful in upper tier models to save money and make upgrade path more obvious.

Battery grip would be incredibly unlikely as that is one of the items that differentiates the K5 series from all other offerings.
