K-30 or wait for K-50 K-500

The K-30 has finally reached my mental buy point but now we have the 50 in the equation. I have not been able to find a point by point comparison of the three cameras side by side. I would hate to take the plunge and then wish I had that extra ISO reach.

Help me out here, exactly what else am I getting? Convince me to jump or wait. The WR sealing is not important to me as I would most likely never buy a WR lens.

WR is nice to have, believe me. 50k ISO on the other hand, is not at all something you'll ever need probably.
The K-30 and K-50 only differ in styling, the extra ISO stop and a mic port on the K-50. Worth the extra cash? It depends on you.

+1 Just because the camera will technically do 50k ISO does not mean you would actually use it or like the results.

Here's the k-50 specs from the Pentax website: PENTAX - K-50 Custom Colors

k-30 might be a good price as the k-50 comes on line but I honestly do not see much difference.

It's all about marketing. You probably won't use 50k ISO or even 25k ISO.

Unless you really dig all those color combinations or need the mic port, I can't imagine any reason to wait for the K-50. The price of the K-30 is just so amazing right now. Such a value. just get it.

I agree. K30 is almost the same as the K50 with regard to specs, just has a different look. Unless you hate the way the K30 looks, you might as well go for it. It's also a lot cheaper right now.

Get the K-30, as it will be a while before the K-50 sells for $499.

Mic port? I might be wrong but never saw that mentionned in the specs?

I expect that the increase in max ISO was accomplished by no more than adding a menu choice. At those levels, it's just a matter of amplification. Pentax can set it to any level it wants. ISO 1,000,000 anyone? As others have noted, that doesn't make the image look good at that level of amping.

What makes you think that? It surely is not in the specs. It clearly states mono built in.

I have a Pentax K-r and was planning on upgrading to the K-30. But since I don't have the money for it until the end of the year, I'll probably end up getting the K-50 *if* they can bundle it with the 18-135mm like the K-30 is currently bundled with.

k-30. Personally I've never shot at 50k ISO.
