Newbie's K-30 questions...

Hi,

I'm about to get off the pixel-peeper fence and get a K-30. I've been reading the manual and have a very only a few questions to ask...

Face detection: It's listed in the live-view mode... but I presume there's no problem using the VF with face detection enabled in live mode, and the VF is still fully active... right?

Bulb: Any limit on bulb shutter duration?

Interval capture: Has any one used the interval capture mode for astrophotography, mounted to a telescope or not? How did it go?

Lenses: For family snaps, landscape, hiking, and sports, I'm looking at used DA 16-45 f4 and DA 55-300 f4-5.6 to pair with the K-30, that should cover it.. but I'm open to suggestions!

In live view, the optical viewfinder goes dark because the mirror is in the up position. Face detection is only available in live view.

Bulb: the limit is your battery life

Interval shooting: yes, do a forum search for astrophotography.

Your lens picks sounds good, though I would suggest looking at the new Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 instead of the Pentax as it's faster, quieter, and more versatile:

Somebody's gotta say it...look for an old 50mm manual to add to your lens setup. You'll be glad you did.

I use the DA18-135, & the DA* 16-50 F2.8 as my standard kit lenses depending on my usage. The DA18-135 is more for family holidays.
