K50 (and 30) sensor same as K5 or not?

I've seen some conflicting reports as to whether the K30 (thus the 50) uses the same legendary exmor sensor the K5 has. Obviously the bitdepth is different, but I imagine that is simply a firmware thing to differentiate them. Is the sensor simply some cheaper 16MP sensor or is it the same one?

They all have the same sensor

That's good. With the price of the 30 now, it is incredibly tempting... but I prefer the way the 50 looks. Not sure if simple cosmetic differences is worth the pricehike.

I'd say go for the K-30, as the way it handles is the exact same, despite the fact that the K-50 has a more rounded appearance.

According DxO, K-50 with all lenses I tried (DA Ltd's), perform 2-3 point better than K-5.

Is it an error?

Hasn't there been speculation the K-30 and K-50 use a weaker AA filter than the K-5?

I don't believe in anything that is not official information. I don't remember that Pentax ever mentioned that K50 has a weaker AA filter than K5.

I recently know that Nikon D7000 use the same sensor as those Pentax. Just curious how could they generate so different image schemes.

Same sensor but new 'model year', companies use that to imply it's improved. Pentax may have bought them all at the same time for all we know; few others still use the Sony sweet-16M chips. More likely the support chips or other Pentax-specific internals make more of a difference. As Apapukas states, nothing official or explicit has been said - but all are uniformly excellent!

Interesting to know. So they bought all the sensors and kept using them? Sony really makes great sensor.

Do you think they use a Sony sensor?

Does the AA filter have anything to do with the DXO Mark sensor score? I ask because the K5 II and K5 IIs have exactly the same sensor score and the D800 and D800e are really close as well. My guess would have been sample variation, but I guess I don't know...

Cameras without AA filter produce sharper images.
And sharpness is one of the parameters of which the overall score is calculated.
That is how I understand that
