Cactus AF45 flash on K-30

Hi all,

Does anybody have experience with this flash on Pentax k-30?
Is it really compatible? What are the general impressions?

Thank you in advance!

9 second recycling, obviously at full power, doesn't sound too clever. Most flashes can manage 4-6 seconds in my limited flash experience, eg my 2 Sigmas and 2 Nissins do it in 4.

Nope, not too clever. But cheap
The question is whether it's p-ttl implementation matches this of k-30.

Tumax are reckoned to sell the same flash, one or two do look the same.... Welcome to TUMAX They also claim K-30 compatibility.

This is currently US59.95 at GadgetInfinity.com.

I don't know how compatible the TTL really is but is it cheap. However, 9 second recycle time would really be a killer in practice.

From Tumax DPT386AFZ / Vivitar DF-383 / Cactus AF45 - Pentax P-TTL Flash Comparison

QuoteQuote:
Many variants of this flash are available under many different brand names. Tumax sells this as DPT383AFZ, DPT386AFZ, and DPT388AFZ depending on the front appearance. Guide numbers and exact features have changed over the years in the same basic package and without a model number change. Vivatar DF-383 and Cactus AF45 are relatively recent versions (from Sakar and Harvest One, respectively). The latest listing on the Tumax page includes a USB port for firmware upgrades, but current models available in the US do not appear to have this feature yet. Watch out for older models of this flash, because they're likely not compatible with current cameras.
