Your K-r will also do time lapse photography. You just need to read the manual. Rec. Mode 2, interval shooting.
Thank you Jim. I found it and am practicing on it for last two days now.

I have only one question about the K-50:

Since it was released after the K-5 II/IIs, why didn't it have the SAFOX X autofocus system? I find it really odd that the only difference between the K-30 and K-50 is the body design... major, at least. If it had the SAFOX X (which was very reliable, at least for me), it would've been a compelling decision for P&S upgraders to consider it over the K-30 (aside from the more conservative design). The K-3 came in with the 27-point SAFOX XI and I guess it wouldn't hurt K-5 IIs sales if the K-50 had its AF system too... they still have a lot of differences aside from sensor and AF anyway.

Meh, the difference between Safox X and Xi+ is tiny except in very low light. Certainly not something your everyday user would notice. The K-50 is already advanced enough for a consumer camera IMO, so it's good that Pentax didn't make it more expensive by using the K-5 II's AF.

At $616 new I could not resist K-50 and 18-55 WR lens on the way. K-30 goes to my happy daughter.

I was thinking about getting the k-50 camera in Sand and brown,, but i just liked the body styling of the k-30 better, so i went with it. i just wish i could of gotten one in silky green. but the black turned out nice as well.

I've not compared yet the IXi+ to the X, since I only have a K-x and the old VIII, but compared to the VIII, X is really far ahead. Nonetheless, having focus peaking in the K-50 is a great bargain.

Looks like a great deal! If you don't want the 50-200mm, you should also look at this kit, which comes with a $200 gift card you can use for something else:

Pentax K-50 Digial SLR Camera w/Pentax DA L 18-55mm WR Lens, Black - Bundle "B" 10894 B

I am relatively new to this site. I currently operate K-r, but need a camera that does interval / time lapse photography. I know K-3 definitely does that, but it is going to have some economical implications for me. I read in a K-50 review that it also has time interval photography. I haven't read in anywhere else.

Can someone please confirm if K-50 allows that.

If not, I will go and get K-3.
Played with a K50 a few weeks ago (and subsequently ordered one) and I can confirm that they have interval shooting. I did find it strange that this site does not mention it in the specs comparisons with the k-3

I just ordered a K-30, which is selling on Amazon for about $500, body only. Irresistable, to this K-01 owner (another great bargain) looking to enjoy fast phase detection focus and a real viewfinder. Didn't consider the K-50, am not into making videos.

Also, I live in Southern California, so I don't really need the WR lenses. Can always get one later if we move back East, right?
Just got my first Pentax since spotmatic days, good to here such positive views from more experienced hands, I love the WR concept as I take football pix here in San Diego and they play in the rain and sometimes fog so thick (in Carlsbad his Nov. 8th you could see the coin toss at mid field).

Grip K50

Est ce vraiment sans risques, d'essayer d'adapter un grip sur le K50?
