Manual Focus Live View Zoom

Last night i was practicing with my Rokinon 85 mm f1.4, because nailing focus on that beast is not very easy wide open.
I was in live view so I can use focus peaking in conjunction with zooming in.
However, when I zoom in then adjust focus, the camera will snap back to the 1x view. It seems like the snap back occurs after it thinks it has achieved focus, but I am guessing.
Does anyone else get this weird, annoying behavior? I want the camera to stay zoomed until i am ready, not when it thinks I should be done.

Unfortunately I think that's how it works. Pentax needs to fix this IMO!

It doesn't need fixing. Page 107 of the manual.......... Hold the OK button during either MF or AF half press gives x10 magnification (after a second delay though, that's the annoying bit) and in MF it holds x10 in real time while focusing.

Thanks for the insight.
I was playing with it last night, and it does indeed stay zoomed until you half press the shutter. But I only get x6 magnification, not x10. x6 is usually sufficient for me though.

You're right, I assumed it was x10, I didn't notice the x2, x4 or x6 showing. I don't use LV much!

I try not to use it - it eats batteries

Agreed. The functionality of LV is much better on my K-x.

I am wondering, why is there so much audible noise as if the mirror is flopping and there is a lot of lag to get off a second shot when using live view with manual focus? Shouldn't there be no need for a mirror to move since the actual sensor is doing all the readout?
