Camera Strap for the k30-k50

As you know there are no rings for a camera strap on these bodies. Only slits, as I call them. Please recommend a camera strap for these bodies as my wife doesn't want me to advertise Pentax on the supplied strap.

Look into the BlackRapid system, they mount to the tripod socket and have available sling straps as well as a hand strap. Downside is if you need to mount to a tripod, you first need to remove the strap connector.

Ape Case is twice as wide as stock, and a bit spongy. I'm almost ready to remove the logo.

I just picked up an OpTech Super Classic Strap Uni Loop... I absolutely love it. I didn't want something that attaches to the tripod mount, and I wanted something longer and adjustable and padded so I could sling it across my shoulder. I also love the uni loop clips because if I mount to a tripod, I can just unclip the strap and not have it dangle in the way. And it only costs $20. I am surprised more people don't use this strap.

+ a dozen for the op/tech system. Modular, inexpensive and super durable.

I love being able to unsnap the strap when I put the camera on the tripod, not worries about snagging the strap and pulling everything over.

I got a Quick Strap (black rapid knock off) that is pretty damn good. Can also attach on to a tripod Wot removing it unlike the rapid mount.

The setup I use for my K30 is a little complicated, but it's almost 100% OP/Tech. I've got EZ grip hand strap mounted at the grip and to a slotted QR plate on the bottom. The left eyelet and the left side of the QR plate is where I hook the Super Classic strap connected through two uniloops. When I want to carry the camera, I attach the strap and go, and if I don't need the strap, I take it off and hook the uniloops together... they make for a nice tiny handle. It's quite a nice system, and you can find your own perfect way to set it up.

I have a Couch strap on my k-30, best strap I've ever used. Super comfortable and long enough (adjustable) to wear cross body. Couch Camera Straps

OpTech is well worth the money. I like being able to just click and remove the camera from the strap.

It's a little tricky, but you can put D rings through those slits if you really want to. I did so on both my K200D and my K30, because I had an old Lowepro strap that I really liked.

So if you have a strap that you like but it requires the D rings, just get out the needle-nose pliers and work at it. Don't take no for an answer.

Cheers, Rick
