Modding a third party grip for K-30.

Any body ever tried this or thought of this?

I have seen this grip
DSTE K5/K7 Vertical External Battery Grip for Pentax D-BG4, K5, K5IIS, K5II - Black - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

I am thinking if I can mod it to make use of the power source and shutter button. Nothing more.

Any body know the pin layout suggestions?

I don't think this will work on a K-30. My understanding is that you can't add a grip to a K-30. There are no connectors on the bottom.

Maybe I should have elaborated a little.
My plan is to remove the pins on top of grip and connect from inside the grip to the 2.5 mm input plug.

Do the same for the power source too.

Sounds like an interesting project. I wonder if the screw lines up properly. Keep us posted if you decide to do this.

Apparently a Nikon D60 grip is a better fit.

I have read that thread a couple of times. It was not until now that I realised that red k-30 did exactly the same thing that I wanted to do.
