Ebay lenses

Has anyone purchased brand new Pentax lenses on Ebay but shipped from Japan? Will I still be able to register it and get a U.S warranty?

The US warranty is only for lenses purchased from US authorized dealers, so no. You might qualify for the "international warranty" but I'm not sure what kind of service that will get you in the US, if any.

If you're trying to save on lenses, wait until the black friday sale next week!

Thanks for the quick reply Adam. I don't think I would like to deal with an international warranty if something did happen. I am looking to purchase the Pentax-D FA 100mm f/2.8 WR Macro Lens but don't have $800 right now to spend on it.

How much is the 100 in Japan? I can get it new in China for just over 500 dollars. I dunno what the customs situation would be, but I am seriously considering starting an export business!

This lens from Japan costs about $675.00 shipped, It's $800-850.00 in the U.S.

In my opinion it's definitely worth waiting for Black Friday, as Adam says. I am jealous because of Black Friday because the only times I have ever been near anything as good is for Grand Opening Sales!! where the first N people get massive bargains for queueing overnight, I have always been customer N+1 or more.

The other side of it is, how likely are you to have a warranty problem? I've had my 100mm for about 5 years and it's given no problems, I don't use it a lot, but still....

Bagga, Do they do black Friday sales on lenses online? Not many stores near me sell Pentax equipment.

Ok. Who's going to have good Pentax lens prices? My local stores are Canikon.

Just had a bad experience with ebay today. bought a 135mm for $22 (11 dollars for the lens 11 dollars for shipping) got it and it looks bran new, but the focus ring wont move beyond 30 feet. pretty much useless to me for what i wanted to use it for.

Looks fine and works fine. Brilliant lens!!!

Before buy - look at the pictures and read description...

I think that all You see is the PRICE)))
Its not secret that scratched lenses or lenses in bad condition are much cheaper than normal cond. lenses...

The description said the lens was in good condition. There was no mention of limited focusing range.
The seller had a good rating.
The photo's showed what appeared to be a like new lens.
The lens did indeed look new.
Im not a total newbee.
The seller simply failed to completely test the lens. That OR he was being deliberately deceitful in the product description.
