I would definitely also try the metal foil. Put it between the lens and mount (careful not to get any flakes inside the camera!) to test if that helps. Do this before more drastic measures. Just make sure the tin foil you use is conductive, otherwise the test is pointless. I think there are some threads on "shorting the contact pins"

There are a number of threads about M mode metering issues on the K-30, K-50, and K-01 with lenses having non-conductive bases. I have not been able to confirm (don't have the K-30), but if I remember correctly, the solution is to short both the A-contact pin and data pin using thin foil or by sanding off the non-conductive paint/anodizing.

^^ THIS! (Use the foil method). Applies to a new (fault?) in the programming of the K-01, which is also used in the K30/K50. (The K-30/K50 is essentially a K-01 with a mirror and viewfinder).

Detailed thread https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/120-general-technical-troubleshooting/230...g-problem.html

Pentax knows about this problem. I recommend contacting their customer support and complaining to get a firmware fix.

Ok, so it is a K30 bug! Does anybody know why "AV" mode metering (for m42) is so much less reliable than the green button for manual K-mount (M or A) lenses? I would think metering is metering and all modes would be the same, but AV mode was off by approximately -1 stops, for my 55mm M42 TAK, F/1.8. Live mode was good, and green button was spot on for normal K-mount manual lenses.

Is this applicable to all pentax k30? Or just selected units?

I wrote to Pentax, they indicated they tested it out and it was all of them.

I read a thread here that he fixed his k30 by just turning auto iso off in manual mode. We have a very similar problem. In liveview, the green button works but n viewfinder, it doesnt work.. im geting my 2nd k30 this day and ill try it with an outdated firmware

Using it in aperture priority mode seems to work but metering is not reliable. Gettin kinda underexposed shots, you need compensate from time to time

Hello, i can confirm the problem its related to the electric contacts, i just received my k-30 and was a little dissapointed as the problem described was identical to my camera's behaviour.
But as i tried my Voigtlander Color Ultron 50mm 1.8 and voila! the green button metering was working as intended (the lens has metallic, conductive back).

Yeah, made in Singapore, same lens aka Carl Zeiss Planar 50/1.8. Made for Rollei or Voigtlander (m42) cameras.
