I really wish catch-in-focus worked with the camera in manual. I know it sounds contradictory, but why wouldn't the focus points still work with manual focus? If a lens doesn't have a AF/MF switch then you have to use the lens release hack or resort to taping/messing with pins. The sound of the AF motor whining incessantly is pretty annoying. Seems like this would be easy to change.

It is a shame when an undocumented (at least in the earlier cameras) feature such as CIF changes behavior or simply disappears as new cameras are released or with firmware updates. CIF is something I generally do not use, but I feel your pain, none-the-less.
