Thanks to both of you I've learned something.

I've had scene modes on all the DSLR's I've owned but I've never used them, in-fact I've never used any auto/program modes with the exception of Auto Focus.

Yeah, scene modes are pretty useless in my humble opinion. :-) It takes just as many and usually less rotations/clicks to setup basically the same thing in either of other modes, via INFO button.
