I would also go for the DA18-135 in your situation. The WR will be helpful.

I recommend 18-135 WR. It is versatile with weather resistant.

I went from the kit lens to the 18-135. It is a nice lens a I like that with it my kit is weather resistant. before I got it there were a few times I had to pack it up because it starting raining and though my camera could take it my lens couldn't.

My first sets of "kit" were very old primes, Tokina, M series, Takumar. Just suggesting, maybe you want to explore these options.
