K-30 and what for portrait?

So I have a k-30, a yongnuo 560-II manual flash, and tight budget ( extremeky tight). I wish to fire the flash off camera, and basically I have two options. Either to buy a wireless trigger with a small softbox, or buy a stand with a translucent umbrella.

I couldn't fire the flash off camera without using the built-in flash, and it was visible even if I set it to -2EV.
Which one to go?

I don't think the K-30 has a PC connector for a flash like the K-3 has, so you could go with a hot-shoe adapter, cable, then another adapter for the flash; around $30. Light stand with umbrella kit is another $30. Be sure the umbrella clamp is included or it will cost an extra $20. This is the super cheap way to do it without firing the on-camera flash.

One last thought:
Have you tried taping a piece of white paper over the on-camera flash? It might subdue it enough and yet still allow for remote triggering. A shot in the dark, but it might work and its free.

Thanks Aqua, I'm gonna check it. So you suggest to get a chrod, and the umbrella, then?

I use a PT-04 wireless trigger and a couple of receivers with my K30. The trigger sits on the hotshoe and the receivers on the flashes, with the umbrella stand and/or without the umbrellas.

Lenses wise, I use the DA*50-135, DA* 200 or FA 43/77

I got a cheap light stand that came with the umbrella and the clamp, which also holds the flash. I think its Wescott brand.
Two hot-shoe adapters and a cable to connect between them. One adapter goes on your camera's hot-shoe. The other goes on the flash. The units are identical. There are hundreds available. Mostly the same.
The flash sync cable connects from one adapter to the other. My cable has a PC connector on one end and the other looks like a mono headphone plug. The adapters have both connectors, so this is fine.
On my K-50, the camera does not activate the hot-shoe at shutter speeds above 1/160 sec. That is the camera's maximum external flash sync speed.
I got all of this stuff on Amazon. The whole order, including some batteries, was less than $100.

So you can see some examples,
Currently Available on Amazon:
These only have the PC jack, but with the correct cable, that's what you want. You need two of these. Seagull JSC-2 Flash Hot Shoe Adapter with PC Sync Socket $8.95
This is the cable that connects the two adapters. You only need one of these. DSLRKIT 5M 16ft Male to Male M-M FLASH PC Sync Cable Cord with Screw Lock 8.99
I don't see the exact light stand and umbrella kit I got, but the Cowboy Studio version looks similar at around $40.

Are you sure the built-in flash was set to be a controller and not a master? It will contribute light in controller mode but very little.

Specifically, you can set this from Custom Setting menu 3, item 18. Flash in Wireless Mode (p. 243).
