Raw+jpeg

Recently ther was a discussion that suggested using raw+jpeg to compare results, so I selected that and took some images. When I loaded them into Lightroom 3 there are only raw files, but if I hover the curser over one it will say raw+jpeg.

I assumed there would be 2 images the same, one in raw and one in jpeg, was I mistaken or are my lightroom settings wrong? Or did I misunderstand the concept?

Thanks

Both files are there on the computer, Lr just stacks them so it doesn't clutter up the view. Maybe someone not on a cell phone can describe a little better.

There is a setting in LR to either show only the RAW or to treat the RAW and Jpeg as different images. Not at that computer right now so I don't remember the exact location of the setting.

Somewhere in the software is a preference setting that you can set to show both files.

At least in LR4 you'll find the setting under Edit->Settings, General tab, "Import options", there is a tick box named "Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photos".

Thanks for the replies, I googled it and found out how to set it up. Works well now.

What's interesting about the comparison to me is it shows how much the camera jpg tosses.
