for me, none...

I have a copy of Elements 13, but rarely use it... I use LightZone for post-processing... I also rarely shoot in RAW...

Nah. Shooting is all about having fun.

Keep in mind that you might get that one extremely amazing shot & then you'll wish that you had the RAW to do some more amazing stuff with it.

That's why I shoot JPEG & RAW at the same time. I use the JPEGS for viewing/reference & I only post process the RAW files that I really like or plan on making large prints of. That's it. It might be 3 or 6 out of 100 photos that I take. I don't have time to sit there & process ton of photos in one jump.

I'm curious also, how many of the pictures in here, and in general that you guys post, are edited in any form or use a Adobe program? (Or in general use for prints in frames at home even)
I'm just wondering, I didn't realize that taking pictures was so much fun, but the more I read magazines and stuff, they all seem to say, "take the pics in RAW, and use Adobe to make it what you want." I am trying to just take the picture though, no edit, no anything, just capture the shot/beauty in 'raw'. Am i crazy?

The pictures you all take are so amazing! I love the sharing and showing and all the tips and encouraging comments.
JohnnyBoy I generally use Photoshop Elements. Started doing so a few years ago as I wasn't quite happy with the images I was getting from my K100D, so I would tweek them in PSE10 to get the lighting and exposure right. Still use it now with my K-50 but not near as much. I do like to sharpen my images for the web and add a watermark (although something happened and my watermark brush is gone so I have to make another ). I have also used it to remove dust spots from my photos (My K100D was bad for that.....or should I say I didn't know how to change my lenses properly )

I don't use RAW near as much as I should but when I see a jpeg image in the view finder that I like I do convert it to RAW right away....love that feature of the K-50.

Thanks for the input. I actually have started shooting in RAW+. I didn't know it would work so easy and well, On the Canon camera I started with few months ago, this was a task for the camera and the files came out as some strange file type, I couldn't even get Photoshop to open them. On my K-50, it works flawlessly and saves a good RAW and JPEG file. Love it. The K-50 is amazing, I went from a 2008 Canon EOS XS Rebel to this K-50(because my Dad has been into photography for years and just picked it up last year, and they dropped the price so much this year, I couldn't resist ).

Try out RawTherapee for post processing the RAW files. It's free.
