Learning my first manual lens. It's amazing how much work the camera automates! Major reality check 😀 Still, I liked this shot. Don't know what shutter speed & aperture... Was playing around at the wide end. ISO 100. Cropped and adjusted temp and highlights a bit in post.

Nice pic. Questions for the experts on the site. In the situation where the eyes are not clearly visible, would you focus on the nose?

I'm no expert either but I always try to focus on the eyes, if they're visible. In this case I would focus on the nose.

Testing my new da 50mm 1.8 under super tough lighting. I took 100 shots at a children's recital at Curtis (for fun) and I only had 9 usable ones. Used a monopod too. It really exposed me. Need to improve a lot more.

Silly question: Did you check your shake reduction status?

It must have been VERY dark to need 1/40th sec at ISO 6400 and f3.5. Even so, I find SR handles 1/40 sec even hand held pretty well as long as I'm careful to squeeze.

Shake reduction was on. The building is pre war, dark wood panel and it was a cloudy day. This was the lighting condition. Not as bad because it was afternoon. But bad.

How'd that monopod work for you? I've been thinking of getting one, since the tripod I've got is too big and heavy to hike around with (bought it to hold heavier stuff than the K-50).

I bought a mefoto roadtrip. It's a tripod but converts to a monopod. Honestly, it was my first time using it as a monopod and it took a while to get used to it, balancing it, getting the correct height, etc. But I think it helped me in that situation. Right now, i'm still not really used to it. So I need to practice more.

The last few shots I took with the K-50 before I got my K-3II. Forgot to post them here earlier.

All images were taken with the K-50 using the Samyang 10mm f/2.8.
