Testing my new old Soligor zoom-macro 35-70mm 1:3.5-4.5 lens, which I bought for 10€...
I did not have enough light, so I had to use ISO6400. That's why the pic is not sharp

Got my K-50 back from the store after being professionally cleaned and had to try it out. This is my cat sleeping behind the screen under a 40w equivalent light. FA 28mm AL lens, exposure f4 for .5 sec ISO 100 (camera blocked on the speakers to limit movement).

Besides proving the sensor was cleaned up (after a year there were dust particles in upper 10% of field I was unable to clean), this pic shows again what the K-50 is capable of even in suboptimal conditions. (click on pic for EXIF) Green light did come on as it was quite dark when autofocusing which is why her eyes opened sleepily.

First serious picture attempt

Wish I would have used raw format and fitted it better

Yeah, but if the guitar had been left as raw wood, it would pick up dirt and look nasty - I like it better with the finish. And as long as the strings can hold a pitch, what difference does it make whether the fittings are exactly right? If the machine-head is at a slight angle, only you will know when you play it. (just kidding, I think it's a fine picture. But if you feel that way, why not just set the camera to save as raw and take another picture?)

I like it like that. It is more interesting and more dynamic on a slight angle rather than perfectly up and down. You perhaps could have gotten a little more of the neck in the picture but that's personal choice. It's a fine image as is.

As far as RAW format goes, you can always choose RAW+ and get both a RAW and an in-camera processed jpeg. If you like the jpeg then you're done; if not you have the RAW image to massage to your own liking.

Putting my new K50 through the hoops

I purchased the K50 about 3 weeks ago and have been getting used to the features and trying most of my old and new glass on it. I also have a Nikon d7000 which has the same sensor as the K50 so it was nice to be able to compare shots with both. My first reaction to the use of my older A and full manual was "Wow!" the camera gave those old lenses new life; the detail and colors were amazing. I've included some shots of a Kiron full manual 70-150mm, the F 35-105mm and the D FA 50mm macro. All in all an amazing camera mister Pentax!

k-50 w/ DA 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 AL WR lens (aperture values don't make sense to me, but that's what's recorded in the EXIF):
-----

f/8, 55mm, 1/30", ISO 1600

-----

f/1.9, 55mm, 1/1500", ISO 1600

-----

4:00 a.m. - 36.13 seconds bulb exposure, f/4, 18mm, ISO 1600
