Focusing Screen Transplant Question

Couldn't find a K500 specific area, so here goes ...

I have a K500 and am pretty disappointed in the focusing screen. I know there are after-market options available, but as I was wondering if an Pentax AE Super film camera split prism screen would work? I have an AE Super just lying around and was wondering if a focusing screen transplant was even possible. Any thoughts??

Thx.

ME super you mean? No, its screen won't fit because it's designed for a larger viewfinder.

I suppose if you are willing to cut the screen down to the proper dimensions it can be done. There's a video on youtube with some guy with horrible fingernails that goes through the process of cutting down a film SLR screen to fit in an APS-C DSLR.

There is also at least one member on this forum who has cut a currently available Canon screen to fit his Pentax dSLR.

Alrighty, then. After watching the effort involved and enduring the EXTREME nail close-up, I have now determined that an after-market screen is well worth the price they are asking.

Hello all!
As for the after market focusing screens: I have been looking on the options available online. Most of the them mention that the screen fits the K7, K5, K30 and K50. No mention to K500. Knowing that the K500 is almost identical to the K50 I assumed that it would work. I did ask the seller however, and he answered that the screen will not fit the K500. So, I am left without options, even though I am inclined not to trust the answer. Is there anybody who tried a focusing screen on the K500?
Thanks!

The K-500 takes the same screen as the K-50, K-3, K-5, etc.
