If anyone asks me to recommend a starter DSLR...

... I now have a concise, pictorial response:

(Smartphone shot because that's all my wife had within reach as I was driving; also please feel free to move this thread if it would go better in a different section of the forum)

I agree 100%! The K-50 is my 1st DSLR and I could not imagine a better camera for the price I paid. (k-30 also) Besides a few small quirks I would say it's great camera to grow from a beginner to a serious photographer with.

HAHAHAHA, very good! As ebailey001 said, great starter camera. Where available, K-500 is a very solid option as well.

That's great! The K-50 is my first camera -- PERIOD. Has been easy to learn, and am loving it so far.

That is too funny. While the K-30/K-50 are often in the discussion of "good starter D-SLR's", the specs often tell a different story. Look at the "starter" cameras from Canikon, then look at these two. No comparison as you check the boxes....

Really full, robust feature sets that many folks could live with even as they develop their skills and hobby.
