I'm missing the top LCD big time. My last few Pentax's have been PZ-1p, MZ-S, *ist DL2 and a K10 all of which have had the top LCD feature.
A recent shoot out in the sunshine we've been been enjoying here in the UK completely made the rear screen unusable due to glare.

I also miss the grip. The ability to carry two batteries has been a boon for me especially with my K10d but on the K30, I miss this. I took my K30 this evening with a spare set of Eneloops but forgot the funky adapter so when my lithium battery crapped out on me I had to to head home. My fault for no bringing the adapter I but with a grip it would not have been a problem.

I think I would have been better with a K-5. The real saving grace with the K-30 is the focus peaking which really makes M42 lenses a real option in choosing lenses.
If you can forget the AA battery adapter, you can forget a grip, too.

Thing is, this thread is asking about who does miss it, not who doesn't
Ok, then I miss it. My wife has a K-50. The few times I've used her K-50, the top LCD was missed. I use the top LCD heavily on the K-3, especially on a tripod. That said, I think I could get used to it - I just don't want to.

I use the top LCD of the K-3 a lot. The awkward way of adjusting AF and metering on the K-3 means it's a very handy check point to have, especially since I like to shoot with the rear display turned off. But only rarely used the top LCD with the K-5. Never missed in on the K-x, rarely used it on the K-200D.

Strangely, I seem to be the only person who finds (Pentax) focus peaking useless
I find focus peaking very noisy and clunky with all the extra mirror movement, and compared to Sony's live view system Pentax is less responsive. It is also less accurate than using the autofocus on my K30 (I can always get a sharper image with autofocus than using focus peaking or focus zoom), so I guess I find it useless too.

Are you sure you're talking about focus peaking?
There are no moving parts for peaking, it's all software.
After all, mirror-less cameras have FP (K-01 and Q)

I'll never have another DSLR as a primary body that doesn't have a top LCD...

I'm talking about the process of using it on my K30 requires live view, which is clunky and uses extra mirror movement. I can see it would be much better on a mirrorless K-01 when used indoors.

Ah yes, but that's LiveView causing the reflex, not focus peaking
Sony's second sensor for liveview is very likely patented.

Anyhow, going off topic now. Ooops.
