Are prime lenses WR

Im going to be getting the DA 50mm F1.8 ($169) but I don't see the WR designation anywhere, do they make a Portrait lens WR.

Pentax make quite a few WR lenses. The DA 50 is not one of them. The only lens is this price range that has any degree of WR is the kit 18-55. The next step up would be the 18-135.

In the portrait focal lengths, the WR options are the DA 16-50, the DA 50-135, the DA 60-250 or the DA 55. None of which are in the $169 price range.

Stars?

Hello deluxecamp, welcome to the Forum!
One modern prime that I know of- that's WR is here; SMC Pentax-DA* 55mm F1.4 SDM Reviews - DA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
Along with longer telephotos like the D FA 100mm macro, DA *200mm f/2.8 and DA * 300mm.
The * (star) lenses and most of the newer zooms seem to have received the WR first. Hopefully the rest of the lens lineup will follow soon.
Good luck!
Ron

The only WR K-mount primes are the DA* 55mm, DA* 200mm, DA* 300mm, and DA 560mm. So if you need weather sealing and don't want to break the bank, go for a zoom:

wr Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

Otherwise the DA* 55mm is the way to go

Thanks for the info, ill have to be a lot more careful with the prime lens.
I just picked up the 55-300 WR so the DA* 55 price (about $700) is going to have to wait.
The DA 50mm F1.8 has an in-store $80 rebate, so the normal $249 is now $169.

I have the 50 1.8 and love it.

Oh, get a screw on lens hood in 52 mm. I could not find a pedal type that would work

I know it's not WR, but for the price and pic quality, it's a compromise I'm willing to make
