K50 + 18-135WR vs K30 + same. worth extra 170$ ?

Hi all.
I'm in India now. Here Pentax is very uncommon and hard to find.
I can buy (on amazon.in) the K50 or K30 kit. K50 is 170$ more expensive.
Does it worth the extra sum, or should I buy the K30 instead?
Thanks.

Unless you don't care for the K-30's looks, I'd go for whatever's cheaper. The K-30 and K-50 are essentially the same otherwise. Read our review to found out what small tweaks have been made.

They both have the same specs. I have the k-30. I love the styling of the K-30 compare to the normal k-50 style. But that is just me. Apart from that there is no real difference.
Except that you will loose 170$ with the k-50.

No, as the others have said the K50 is not worth an extra $170. Spend the money on your next lens instead

well, now it seems that the info on Amazon is not up to date (this is India after all). The seller said the K30 is no longer available.
my next hope is to buy it in China (my next destination). this site has it, for example (i hope)

Another thought came to my mind:
I still have my Tamron 24-135 (managed to sell the K-x body). on this Chinese website I can buy the K50 + 18-55WR for 600$ aprox. the K30 + 18-135WR costs there 1000$ (if they actuality have it).
so maybe it'll be better and cheaper to buy the K50 kit and keep my Tamron.
what do you think?

Don't neglect the Marketplace here - a well-cared-for used camera is a great bargain.

You can get a used 18-135 for around $300 or so. The K30 kit for $1000 seems overpriced to me, certainly not a bargain.

I even like the K30's look and grip better!
And $170 means a nice little DA50! much much better to me.

I'm without a camera right now (well, I do have a nice point&shoot, but no DSLR). Because I'm traveling right now, I can't buy anything on the Marketplace, because ⒾI can't waist time on waiting for shipment. And after I'll come back home, IⒾ won't really need a DSLR. Well, not as much as it's needed when traveling.

If the Tamron you mention is the Tamron SP AF 24-135mm F/3.5-5.6 AD Aspherical [IF], I think it can take better pictures than the Pentax DA 18-135. BUT,
  • It's much larger than the 18-135
  • I miss the 18-24mm focal length
  • It's not WR
So, if you get the K50 kit with 18-55WR, you are covered at the 18-24mm wide end and have a WR option. For $600, that's a nice kit.

Bought k50 + 18-135WR in Beijing. More expensive than EBay, but at least I have a proper camera now :-)
