I took a K-30 w/18-55mm WR to Burning Man...it survived!

Here it is after:

And here's the gallery:

Burning Man 2014 - Imgur

Just hosed it off when I got home, still works perfectly!

Quick notes:
I used the FA 1.4 50mm at the burn itself - it got dusty but seems OK.
I used the AA adapter and must have taken 1000 photos on one set of Amazon AA rechargeables. Amazing.

Can I just say, that's impressive on both picture quality and surviving those harsh conditions. I loved the night shots.

I've a K-30 and I panic if speck of dust lands on the lens.

...and that, children, is why dust and weather resistance is so important...

I went to the burn a few years ago. The camera I took was a crappy pas. The camera survived ok (it also survived a direct 'paintball to lens' hit whilst doing a war correspondent job at a friends stag do. It still works, but gritty grinding noises are now the norm).

The rental car we hired did not fare so well. It took 3 days of scrubbing the thing clean, before we dumped it back at the rental place and legged it. It's a good thing they didn't do a test drive before returning the deposit! That thing was making hideous grinding noises all the way home!

It takes years to get rid of that gypsum....

Fascinating set of pics. Interesting stuff there everywhere you look and way more color than I would have thought. What smorgasbord for someone armed with a decent camera. Good job!

Don't be. You dit well! And if anybody spots possible improvements they will be pointed out in a very civilized way. Things can be a little bit more heated on some sections of this forum but when we share photo's that is not the case.
