Look at the relative positions where the contacts are on the camera mount (facing you) - say from 6:30 o'clock to 7 o'clock. On the lens mount facing you relative to the focus indicator mark that would be 5 o'clock to 5:30 o'clock . You usually only need to short the data pin which is closest to the mount locking pin. If you have trouble visualizing where the contacts are use a china marker or something non-permanent to point where they are located.

Could you post a picture showing exactly where the foil should go? I'd like to try the same thing.
It's easy to put the tape on, assuming the lens has enough diameter to cover the pins.

In the pic below, the lens is a Mamiya/Sekor 55mm, f1.8, and the foil works fine.

On my SuperTak 35mm f3.5, the lens diameter is too small, so the green button method doesn't work.

You can buy metallic tape at auto parts shops.
Maybe....but aluminum foil and a wider rubber band work good too !

Quite true but some people would like a more permanent or elegant solution.

Very tue....I just sold my two Tak's and upgraded to some SMC-K Primes. That solved it for me......Kinda anyway....untill I found out this is only a K30/K50 issue and they would have worked properly on the new K3....
It looked kinda shoddish with a roll of aluminum foil and a rubber band....kinda looked broken...lol........I didnt like it either.

az1895 - why would the M42 Taks work on the K3 and not the k30/50s? How about the K5s or the new KS1?
