New K50...saying hello

Well after looking at many different options I settled on a K50. Figured it would give me some room to grow as I learn to use it. For for many years I have been using better quality and some lesser quality P&S gear. Avid Adv motorcyclist and wanted something better to to start capturing the road and trails I venture on. Mainly interested in landscape and scenic type photography. I do some action cam stuff with my Drift Ghost-S. I plan to spend most of my time here reading as while I may know a lot about some things.....a real camera is not one of them.....serious noob. The kit came with a couple of lens, and 4 batteries, and other stuff like hoods and such but I know I'll need to be on the hunt of a few better lens once I figure out the basics. I like low light, mornings, sunsets type lighting. Usually around my campsite and such.

One of my main things I really am on the hunt for is a good compact armored case to pack the camera gear in and sometime my bike gets sleepy and falls over (crash). While infrequent, it happens riding trails and off road.

Anyway....glad I found this place.

I searched.....

Anyone know of rugged or armored compact bag or case for a Pentax SLR? Being able to pack it my bags and be bounced around, waterproof is huge bonus as I ride through down pours. My bags are lined but being armored is more important.

I'm not sure what the smallest pelican case is, but that sounds like what you need. You're gonna love that K-50!

This is great to hear. I have reading quite a bit about and how to get started using using. Plus watching youtube a lot on basic setting to start. I was kind of figuring a pelican case was going to be my real option but was hoping someone knew of a pre-molded case for the K50 camera. The plan for now is a padded formed soft case and hard lens containers that I will carry in my tail bag. Might be the best I can do for now. As I travel on my motorcycle I see things all the time that I know would make a great photo opportunity....lots of old falling down houses, barns, silos, and nature scenes and I am very pleased with all the great reviews that talk about the camera's potential....up to me now to see if I can capture some of it. Steep learning curve but it's already very interesting and I like challenges.

I plan to make a donation to the site and I did buy it from a sponsor.... just did not use the link....my bad didn't know.

Looking at some post production software and it seems like LR is what a lot of people use and it certainly looks like it has many features. But in the hunt for a lower cost noob macro lens.....watching ebay.

A first line of defense might be one of the cases from Op/Tech made of wet suit material. That will give some cushion and be moisture resistant. Waterproof is going to require a sealed bag or a Pelican case. Although the Pelican will likely offer the most protection, it is also the most bulky and will take up precious space in your panniers. Good luck on the hunt, and I'll look for your posts here and on ADVrider as well (I'm a regular on both forums)
