K-50: Memory card suggestions wanted

Ok so with all the sales going on, I want to spend some cash and buy a memory card.

I've been looking at Best Buy, so if we can limit suggestions to items there that would be most helpful:

Camera Memory: Digital Camera Memory Cards - Best Buy

What I want to know first off: How fast is the K-50 able to write to a card? Meaning, what is the fastest card it can write to?

Also, I haven't even used the Eyefi feature on the 4GB card that came with my K-50. Not even sure Eyefi is worth it right now.

Finally, I saw some of these shock-proof, erase-resistant Sandisk chips. Are they worth it?

What do you all use in your K-50?

I never worried too much about cards. If anything i looked for 4gb and 8gb cards just so that if i lost or wrecked one i wouldnt lose much. Even on the cheap cards only slowed me down on RAW files in burst mode. Now i have a 64gb extreme sandisk card i keep in slot 2 for RAW files and a basic 8gb card in slot one for jpegs. The 64 card hasnt left the camera and is filling up to the point that i dont want to go through it now LOL and will probably just hit delete all. I keep in in case i take a nice shot someday that i want the RAW file.

I have never had a failure in any of my Sandisk or Transcend cards.

The large RAW files and high burst rates really show how good a card can be.

This one is a super fast reliable card (It is the one I use):

SanDisk Extreme PLUS 16GB HighDefinition Secure Digital High Capacity SDHC UHS3 Memory Card Black SDSDXS-016G-A46 - Best Buy

This one is slightly slower, but still a great card and has twice the capacity:

SanDisk Extreme 32GB SDHC Class 10 UHS1 Memory Card Black SDSDRX3-032G-A21 - Best Buy

All the cost-benefit analyses show that the San Disk Extreme Pro 80mb/s cards are the best bargain among the high-speed San Disk cards for dSLRs. The faster 95mb/s cards are indeed faster but our cameras can not take advantage of it and the extra cost is therefore wasted. There have been some very good sales on the 80mb/s cards of late. They are cheaper from Amazon right now.

Note that the speeds printed on card labels (45MB/s - 80Mb/s - 95MB/s) relate to 'read' speed (transfer), not write speed.
Write speed is governed by the camera hardware. I've read that the K-5 maximum writes speed is 18MB/s. Would be good to have a listing of all Pentax digital camera writes speeds.

Is Fry's Electronics a possible alternative to Best Buy? My experience in general is Fry's have better deals than BB. I use a Samsung and a Toshiba memory card, both 32gigs class-10. Haven't had any issues so far. At work we use SanDisk Extreme Pro on a D800 with no hiccups.

...there's nothing worse than a D800 with hiccups. VR lenses don't help either.

Whether Amazon or BH, they are something like 1/4 to 1/3 the price of the Canadian retailers

Hey,

would SanDisk Ultra 16 GB capacity and up to 40 MB/s speed be enough for my K-50?
