F- - message on my K-50

I was swapping out lenses this afternoon and all of a sudden, the aperture flashes "F- -" and the camera doesn't want to shoot anymore....

WTH?

So, I put the other lens back on the camera - sure enough, it's not the camera but my Sigma 70-300 that is causing the issue...

thanks to this thread:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/172-pentax-k-3/272149-error-f-message-new-tamron-lens.html

I found out that there is a tiny aperture-ring on the Sigma lens and it's touchy.....

and I am reminded, once again, that these forums are near-priceless.....

funny thing - that was the FIRST thing I did when I determined it was a specific lens and not the K-50 causing the issue....

Does the Sigma have a ring to select the aperture with an A setting?

it does - and that's what I missed.... resetting the aperture ring to 'A' solved the issue....
