I <3 my K-30 as well and no plans to upgrade (rather spend my monies on LBA!) It's my 2nd DSLR (afer my K-x, my 1st was really my ME-Super(film), still in use!) I had the K-x for 2 years, but found myself wanting something better(2 dials, better AF, etc.). Not so w/K-30, has everything I need, nothing I don't! I see no need for a FF (all my compact limiteds are APSC) or an atenuating screen. Only thing I could honestly say it lacks is Canikon-quality AF. I did have to have it worked on once (aperture-control issue). Shop said that the ap-control lever got dirty and was common w/this model (I use primes & change lenses aLOT). I still have love for my K-x (backup) due to it's ultra-light weight and it's single, better tactile-feel control dial. Other than that, happily stickin' w/my awesome K-30, that and my trusty ol' Dell D620 lappy (w/Linux)!

Very attractive!! I ordered the K-S2 in "Stone Gray". I hope it is half as beautiful. :-)

I got mine for a steal on ebay. It's fine for me because I can utilize the weather sealing, got aaa adaptors off ebay and got some 64gb cards. I can shoot all day and never worry about power because I can get the batteries anywhere. I like the specs of the ks2 but I can wait for a price drop and use the fine body I have now.

I know what you mean. I was going to simply get another K30 and that was the day the K-S2 hit E-Bay. I decided to just wait a bit and see what prices do for everything down the road a bit.

I still think about upgrading to the K-S2 but I looked at a comparison from a DPR forum member who had pics from the K-30, K-S2 and K-3. To me, the K-30 still looks best in output. Hard to upgrade when I see that the pics still look best to me.

I know I will always be shooting the K30 as long as it holds out. I now have 51K on mine as of today. The urge to just hit the Buy It Now button on Ebay is really getting to my trigger finger. I noticed there are more K30's now than there ever have been...... and a nice used one with less than 500 clicks on it went for less than $250 today.....its getting tricky with such a itchy trigger finger at those prices.....lol. This 16 mp sensor is just plain sweet and hard to beat !

I didn't see that one Jim. But see this ingenious comparison by @THoog involving K-x, K-01, K-30 and K-S1: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/184-pentax-k-s1-k-s2/283229-comparison-between-k-30-k-50-k-s1.html
His summary: "My conclusion was ... that the K-S1 has more detail in good light. In poor light, it has more noise, but it's of the luminance variety, and fairly easy to clean up without loss of detail."

The sensor in the K-S2 is the same as in the K-S1, so the results are likely to be very similar.

The difference was enough to make me think that the K-S2 could be a worthwhile upgrade, although I would wait to see some more tests, reviews and images (and for the price to come down) before making that switch.

Thanks Jim. Very interesting.

Ideally a comparative test would involve a lot more than either of these (with assessment in a variety of conditions, using various lenses, different ISO settings, AA simulator on and off, DR testing, etc, as well as comparison of AF performance) but they are useful indicators.

I've got the K-30 and now I've added a K-3. I've had to send my K-30 back to the shop twice now for aperture control block replacement. Must be some kind of quality control issue with the K-30.
I'll hang on to it as a back up to my K-3. Doubt I'll use it a whole lot now. The K-3 is way above anything that the K-30 could do.

I crossed over 12,000 clicks a few days ago, probably closer to 12,100 now. I want to upgrade to the K-3ii possibly, but it's hard to justify when i've made a couple large-ish prints for the first time (24x36) and I'm not really seeing a screaming need to 'upgrade' for IQ's sake. Probably GAS more than anything else...

And you can go quite a bit bigger too ! I had the same thought as how big was big enough and then the K3II came along at just the right time to just jump right in and pre-order......fingers crossed.
I did end up buying another brand new fresh K30 as mine now has about 59K on it.....but still no issues with it at all and going strong. Decided passing on the KS2 for the moment at least as "something" NEEDS to die first before any more upgrades and purchases......lol.
Is there such a thing as K30BA ? I hate to admit it......I own three now as I just couldn't pass up a real good deal on Ebay an hour ago....lol.

I consider myself very lucky that the known Aperture Block issue has eluded me completely so far. I guess that's why I now have backups ready to go... Just in case....lol.
