psychedelic issues

K-30 images gone wild in lightroom. These appear normal in the camera. What causes this problem?

Bad card, bad transfer from the card (non-repeatable glitch), or bad secondary card reader (whatever you are using to read the card to import into the computer). If the camera is reading the card ok, you could transfer via USB cable.

Wow, that looks really cool.
But yes, its probably a write error. Try another SD card. You might be able to fix yours temporarily by reformatting it in-camera, but that can only do so much.
And make sure your SD card and SD card slot are clean, free of particles or grime.
Anyway, I suggest a Class 10 Sandisk SD card. This is a reliable brand. For me, Sony and Panasonic cards 8and other brands I don't remember) have not worked out as well.
Oh, and when you have a reliable SD card, make sure your camera has the latest firmware installed.

If that's happening consistently, instead of trying to fix it just put it on ebay for $5,000 Buy it Now. Some modern conceptual artist will pay at least that much for that effect. In fact, ask $10,000.

As a live performance I'll be going to put it into the trash, at home. I'm glad not the camera became artist!

Seriously, as in the above replies it's probably just the SD card. If the photos look okay on the camera's own LCD screen, it can only be the card.

Yes they do, I used the cable to get the images from the camera though.

They look ok on the display probably because the camera is rendering the embedded jpeg thumbnail and not processing the full RAW image each time... if you shout RAW, that is.

The alternative to getting another SD card is to continuously consume enough chemicals that you don't notice anything wrong with the images. :-)

If you want to you can create an effect that looks like that, except for the blocking of the image, using the default s/w shipped with K3. Play with the 'tone curves' box. Make the curve a series of zigzags from top to bottom.

But I would not want it straight from the camera.

I had something similar happen to me several years ago with the digital point-and-shoot I had at the time. I was trying to shoot a sunset silhouette of a Joshua tree to hang on my wall, and the following image came off the camera as-is. I have no idea how it happened, but I actually liked how it turned out. All I adjusted was the dark blue on the left side to be black like the right side. At some point between then and now, the original file stopped showing the right side of the image - it is solid white now.
